A few days later, we celebrated Christmas Day in our usual style! And had some friends over to celebrate! Happy birthday Jesus! Then, a few days after Christmas (the 30th Dec to be exact), Ezra turned 12 - and had some pals over for his Tournament of Champions party. Good times! The bday party ended with one of Mom's famous ice cream cakes - this one rivaled Dairy Queen's best. YES!

And here is proof of another one of our holiday traditions - New Year's cookies made on that very day. I had some time during the hols to roast some ethiopian coffee beans on the barby - easier than you think! Here's a shot of the "raw" beans with the finished product...don't look too bad (and they tasted great!!)One evening, we spent some quality time by the firepit, and had some mince pies to celebrate the new year.

Many afternoons during the break have been spent at the pool - when the weather's warm, there's nothing better to help pass the time and wear out the kids. Then, on the 4th, the whole family climbed Mt. Longonot - an extinct (hopefully) volcano in the Rift Valley...We made it! Here we are on the rim of the crater of the volcano. The obligatory family shot at the top - get a load of that view!

The next evening, we went out for Ethiopian food at Abyssinia's restaurant with some friends. Amazing food...We also spent part of an afternoon at The Nest Halfway House with some wee ones. Here's Ez and Zay helping little Emily with her supper. "Open wide, Emily...like this!!!"On Epiphany, we took in some sweet jazz at The Kiambethu Tea Farm near Nairobi. It was a travelling high school from the States, and the tea was incredible as usual. What would the twelve days of Christmas be without Popcorn Cake!
